Abstract
Purpose : To evaluate correlations of corneal anterior and posterior refractive power, spherical aberration, and asphericity, corneal anterior and posterior radii, spherical aberration and asphericity were measured using Pentacam.
Methods : 47 healthy right eyes(average age: 22.86 ¡¾ 3.22 years) of undergraduate students and 28 healthy eyes of elderly people (average age: 53.91 ¡¾ 5.92 years) were recruited. We measured corneal anterior and posterior radii, spherical aberration, and asphericity using Pentacam(Oculus Co.) and analyzed their correlations.

Results : There was negative correlation between corneal anterior radius and spherical aberration(r = -0.43435, p<0.0001), however, there was no correlation between corneal posterior radius and spherical aberration(r = 0.04772, p = 0.6515), The average asphericity was -0.228 ¡¾ 0.137. There was no correlation(r = 0.10, p = 0.34169) between asphericity and corneal radius, however there was positive correlation between asphericity and spherical aberration(r = 0.673, p < 0.0001). The average ratio of posterior and anterior spherical aberration was 22.77% ranged from 13.76% to 43.83% for college students¡¯ group(average: 26.88%) and from 9.29% to 34.67% for elderly group(average: 17.88%).

Conclusion : Corneal anterior spherical aberration is related with corneal asphericity and it is not sufficient to consider the anterior corneal aberration to predict the spherical aberration. It is important to consider the posterior corneal
aberration.
